After being cooped up in the house all week last week (except for going to the Doctor, of course!) we really needed a day of fresh air. We decided to pack everyone up and drive to Country Mercantile, which is a Pumpkin Patch about an hour away. We had a great afternoon watching the kids play in the bounce house, climbing the Hay pyramid, finding our way through the Hay Maze, & taking a Hay Ride (Elijah & Adeline’s first one!) to the Pumpkin Patch. It was nice to enjoy being together as a family and to get our minds off of more pressing things for a day.
We are sending up praises to the Lord today as yesterday we took Elijah to consult with the surgeon in Spokane and found out he doesn’t need surgery after all! We didn’t expect to get that news so we were very surprised and relieved. We will be watching him for any worsening symptoms for a few months but we are expecting that his condition will resolve itself within a couple of months. Thank you, Lord!
We did find out that Adeline does have a condition called Laryngomalacia. Thankfully, it appears to be mild to moderate at this time and hopefully will not need surgery, although her doctor’s will be closely monitoring her. We also were told she has something called “Laryngoesophageal Reflux Disease” which is basically severe swelling as a result of the reflux. This is actually the more concerning of the two conditions and requires aggressive treatment of her reflux. We will be taking her to the Pediatric GI Specialist in Spokane tomorrow to consult with him on any changes we need to make in her treatment at this time. Please pray for Scott and I that we will have a good understanding of her conditions and the treatment that she needs and that we would make good decisions on how to proceed. It is overwhelming for me at times to think of what a great responsibility we have to keep our sweet baby healthy. However, I am so thankful for the wonderful care she is receiving from our Pediatrician and the other Doctors we have consulted with.
Scott’s parents (Grammy & Pop Pop) arrive this Thursday so we are looking forward to their visit. The kids are anxiously counting down the days!
Here’s a link to some fun photos from this month. Enjoy!
