Aline’s Artwork at Maple Brook Studio

Pen & Ink Drawings: Drawing with Pen & Ink was my first love as a child.  I love the fine details I am able to create with this media, and how the pen simply feels like an extension of my fingers.

Besides viewing my artwork on-line,

my work can be seen:

Birch Series: Begun in December 2008, inspired by a winter snow storm, the entire series is painted on textured papers, some of my own making. Also in this series: Summer and Autumn birches.

Chinese Brush Paintings: We are all influenced by events and people in our lives.  One such important event occurred in 1989 when I visited the gallery at Connecticut College in New London, CT, where the works of Chinese artist Charles Chu were on display.  When I picked my jaw off the ground, I determined that I would have to learn how to do this style of painting.  Initially working with books I’d purchased, I happened on a week-long total immersion course in Duluth, MN at the Split Rock Program.

.....The rest, as they say, is history.....

Metal Working: October 2010 found me in Maine at the New England School of Metalworking taking their: Forging Flora and Fauna course.  I’ve got some exciting pieces to share with you at my studio.  I also engrave on metal and glass.
