With my current project I am injecting an autobiographical thread into my paintings. I have sorted through boxes stored in the attic of my childhood home that are filled with objects from my past, culling the items with emotional resonance. I focus on colors of the objects and the age when I was most connected to them to define the painted image. I am reinterpreting my personal history through the lens of abstraction, which to me is a metaphor for the way we all see our past. It’s abstracted, fragmented, and sometimes more beautiful than the actual events or things we remember.
