All The Time
(Copyright Alf Wheeler 2007)

I had a special dream,
I called it 'all the time'.
When I remember how it felt,
I feel immersed in the sublime.

It was a bit of a tall order,
that special dream of mine.
But this world of ours needed fixing up -
It was time to draw the line.

We, together, drew a line
beneath all that'd been before.
We put an end to Poverty,
Pestilence and War.

There was a part to play for all of us -
We each got our own role.
We played our parts so well -
The world is fixed and whole.

'All The Time' my dream was called
I shared it with all of you.
The simplest of daily tasks
was all we had to do.

I said;

If a child felt special ''all the time'
imagine how they'd feel.
If 'all' the children felt that way -
We'd help the world to heal.

Living in a world
where every child feels 'they're the one',
that's what my dream's all about.
Wouldn't that be fun!

I'm not just talking birthdays
or special days with mum and dad -
I'm saying "all kids - all the time",
not just a passing fad.

The children of the world
are all sizes and all ages -
Some are only 3 years old
and some octogenarian sages.

Everyone is someone's kid -
That much is a fact.
If we did a World kid headcount -
The World is kid jam-packed.

A World that's full of children -
That's a fun idea!
About 6.5 billion of them -
To be set free of fear.

Now, that's a lot of kids.
To feel that, "I'm The One".
We better get our fingers out -
There's much work to be done.

A poem had been written.
It might have been a song.
The entire world embraced it,
you couldn't help but sing along.

No one had to do that much.
Everyone wanted 'in'.
Being treated like a special child
                                                had to be win-win.

Then;

It started with little courtesies.
And planting little seeds;
Of friendship, understanding, love
and people serving deeds.

We all started to listen,
to what each other had to say.
And helped to meet each other's needs,
each and every day.

We increased the use of tolerance.
And gave each other space.
We stopped telling others how to be
and got out of their face.

There was a basic set of tenements.
We could have called them rules.
But for those that liked rebellion -
We used to call them 'Tools'.

Everyone got Clothed.
And everyone got Fed.
From the day they're born -
Until the day they're dead.

No one got chastised cos' of
the colour of their skin.
And nobody was singled out
cos' of the church they're in.

Everyone felt loved and safe,
with access to clean water.
The politician's served the world,
just the they way oughta'.

No one went to jail,
because of their belief.
And if a child got sick -
They were offered quick relief.

There was medical care for everyone.
No one was turned away.
Rich or poor or in between -
No one had to pay.

The armies were abolished.
No one went to war.
The billions of dollars that we saved,
got used to feed the poor.

The poor ceased to exist
when the resources got shared out.
The contribution they then made;
The World still sings about.

All those hearts and minds,
that got freed of all that fear;
Lifted up humanity …….
And still do every year.
