Marvelous food, friendly people, fabulous facility!

Since 2000, the VSCCA Governor’s Cup Races, held at the marvelously restored VIRginia International Raceway, have become established as a favorite on the increasingly crowded vintage event calendar.

True to the principles of the VSCCA, the VIR Governor’s Cup Races eschew the timing & scoring of participants, the establishment of “grids” and ”classes” in  order to encourage participants to focus on the shared enjoyment of using their cars safely at one of the most beautiful and challenging courses in North America.

We would like to invite VSCCA Governor’s Cup “alumni,” as well as those who have not yet sampled our famed “Southern hospitality.” The weather is always pleasant, the cars and the people are wonderful, too!

A Special Place for Special Cars and People
The VSCCA has a delightfully different approach to offer those who prize participation over outright competition. For many of us, the ability to bring out a rare old car in the company of friends and to revel in the sounds, smells and sights which stimulate all of ones senses is special.

Scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, May 5th and 6th, 2007, no other weekend at this spectacular venue captures this marvelous essence and allows such a wide range of interesting and fascinating cars (and people) to enjoy the track together safely and with such common purpose.

Beginning with successful efforts by Scott Ebert to attract a dozen Bugattis in 2000 to hosting the MG Vintage Racers and their “Focus” event in 2001 to the outstanding field of vintage Bentleys in 2003, the VSCCA Governor’s Cup Races have been truly special weekends.

This year, we are delighted to offer two race groups. One for Pre War, under one-liter “etceterinis” and other “less quick” cars; another for the more “modern” VSCCA cars built before 1960 and selected later cars at the invitation of the Event Chair. This has been a successful formula in the past and, coupled with the wonderful banquet held Saturday evening in the antebellum Foote family mansion, the Governor’s Cup Races promise an opportunity to   enjoy “the right crowd, and no crowding.”

Please be aware that this weekend is a busy time in Virginia's "Racing Region." We ask you to book soon at the local hostelries in Roxboro, NC and Danville, VA. The Sleep Inn and the Hampton Inn in Danville, Virginia as well as the Hampton Inn in Roxboro, NC are good choices.

For those who desire more luxurious accommodations, at prices less expensive than in New England, the Berry Hill Plantation Resort by Marriott is about 25 minutes from the track. An on-site spa, a good restaurant and beautiful accommodations are available at Berry Hill. Information is available at www.berryhillplantationresort.com. Camping is available this year Friday and Saturday night.
