60’s Era Lincoln Continentals
60’s Era Lincoln Continentals
The Continentals of the 1960’s brought a completely new and refreshing aesthetic to the american automobile after a decade of increasingly tacky and overdone cars from Detroit.
My interest in Lincolns of this era stems from a love of clean modern lines, architecture and mid century modern design. I researched these cars for years before ultimately making a purchase. I narrowed my search specifically to the 1961 model year. This was the initial year of the style and it was the only year to go completely unmolested from the original design intent of Elwood Engel. This car won an IDSA (Industrial Design Society of America) award that year. The first automobile ever to do so.
