A New TextMate User Interface: SuperMate
A New TextMate User Interface: SuperMate
June 19, 2008
Yes, TextMate is written in Cocoa, so it just can’t be ugly. But a text editor with a “minimalist user interface” can become a bore after extensive use, especially if its users are on the GUI-side of Mac people. Introducing SuperMate, an ultra-Leopard-y and ergonomic TextMate skin that will make you want to use every window and panel.
Download:
All downloads contain interface files and instructions (no executables).
Notes:
You will need to reinstall the skin by dragging items to the shortcut folders each time you update TextMate.
To uninstall SuperMate skin, simply reinstall TextMate from Macromates.
Project Window
Bundle Editor
New tab bar with a TM-purple gradient (optional). File list has blue gradient touches and fits more files. Tabs can be squared off (optional).
Textured window, Leopardized buttons (really fun to push), including a moved “show options” button (gear in toolbar). Now uses standardized fonts to ease web development.
Web Preview
Right pane in Bundle Editor has been split into a tabbed view to make more room for editing bundle items. Source list fits more bundle items; improved appearance, with shiny Leopardized buttons.
Panels
HUD (black transparent) panels have been added. Filter Through Command panel has Leopardized buttons and autocompletes commands. The Select Bundle, Select File, and Select Symbol panels have improved readability with alternating rows and gradients.
Other Modifications
Document scrollers automatically hide when not needed.
Find in Project panel has alternating rows, gradients, and margins for improved readability.
Information panels in a Project are real (utility) panels now.
And more!
