I've had this crazy idea in my head for a while now. What if you could take a game out of your Sony game console and play it on your PC? Then go to a friend's house and play it on their Microsoft console? How could this even be possible? How would this affect video game companies? How would it affect consumers?

I've got a bit of a half-baked scheme for the technical side of things, and I think that I've got a bit of a handle on the economic impact of such a drastic change, but I have no misconception of omniscience in this regard.
