I am a Ph.D. student at the University of Texas at Austin’s Media Studies program, where I study online social networks, film/video history and theory, and other ways that people decide to portray themselves. Specifically, I am interested in places where lines blur: gender and sexuality; race and ethnicity.

I am also a freelance writer.

Previously, I was the Editor of the venerable Southern California gay magazine Frontiers, where I oversaw a comprehensive relaunch, as well as broke the worldwide exclusive story of “Star Trek” icon George Takei’s coming out.
