Dr. Albert M. Honig

I have spent over fifty years in the medical profession as a practicing
psychiatrist. I am a specialist in severe mental disorders, including schizophrenia, obsessive disorders and suicide.

With this website, I want to share with you some of my observations about human behavior.

During the recent years I have been doing a lot of research about the subject of anorexia, especially as it relates to young people. In fact, one of the chapters in my new book "Hard-Boiled Eggs," features a chapter on "Ann," a young lady who has a severe problem. Read about how Ann attempted to overcome her affliction. Other chapters profile some of the other disorders, i.e., schizophrenia and suicide.

There are some other interesting links on this site.

Some wonderful illustrations drawn by young people.

Check out the link for "symptoms of eating disorders".

Like many, I am concerned about the media and their presentation of the younger generation as it relates to "image". Check out the media section of this site for some enlightening facts.

Did you know that the D.O. in my signature is just like M.D.? Not too many people know the difference! Check it out on the left panel.

Finally, do you know what the important factors are when you need to consult a psychiatrist...check the left panel for the answer.

Dr. Honig started his professional career in the general practice of medicine. While in the practice of general medicine he started his personal psychoanalysis with Theodor Reik, a pupil of Sigmund Freud. After over one hundred hours with Dr. Reik, he left general medicine for a career in psychiatry. In 1959 he founded the Delaware Valley Mental Health Foundation in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. He has devoted his whole career to the understanding, treatment, and research of the severe and chronic mental disorders.
