Sunday Sun: £16bn for London’s Crossrail, but what about the high speed link to the North?
UK Ultraspeed welcomes the article by Robert Weatherall in today’s Sunday Sun, which discusses the much-needed maglev link to the North in the context of the recent announcement of £16bn of public funding for the Crossrail scheme.
We note the comments by Professor Joe Painter, the director of Durham University’s Centre for the Study of Cities and Regions. He said:
“The issue is the continual priority given to the London economy. London tends to use up a large proportion of public investment.
“I would strongly support a high speed connection between London and the North and Scotland. It would help to address regional economic disparity.“
