UK Ultraspeed welcomes the June 10 article by Ken Symon, Business Editor of the Sunday Herald. Building on his earlier maglev coverage, Mr Symon writes:
“The sense of frustration with this nation's transport system is growing - much was expressed at last week's Economic Development Association (Scotland) conference in Dundee.
As I have argued in this place before, the radical solution should involve a high-speed maglev link between Glasgow Airport, Glasgow city centre, Edinbugh Airport and the capital's city centre. This would transform connections between the areas.
Such a project would go a long way to tackling the problems of central belt gridlock and would link both of Scotland's main airports to both its main city centres.
It would also help to tackle one of the biggest issues that emerges from the Index of Success study, namely how far Glasgow and some of the surrounding areas are behind the average and best performing parts of Scotland.
As the document says: "With such a high share of the Scottish population it is all too easy to be put off by the scale of the problem but this would be a mistake. Glasgow has taken many big strides forward economically and socially in recent years but it is still marooned at the bottom of most measures of deprivation."
These are issues that must not be ducked by the new administration.”
