At the North East Economic Forum, the UK Ultaspeed team were delighted to meet with David Clelland MP.
Mr Clelland holds the distinction of being the first MP to speak in the House on the subject of maglev after the public launch of UK Ultraspeed in February 2005. On 8th March 2005, Hansard records Mr Clelland's question:
Is my right hon. Friend aware how welcome it is that a British Government have finally woken up, 50 years after its invention in this country, to the important role that the linear motor can play in the provision of fast, efficient, environmentally friendly inter-city transport? Can we look forward to early indications that serious consideration is being given to this mode of transport, known elsewhere as Maglev, being introduced in the UK?
