MERANOPLUS
This is an old world genus known from Ethiopian, Oriental and Australian region. Most species of this genus are specialist seed harvesters. The distinct shield on their mesosoma (often translucent) makes these one of the most easily identifiable ants in the field. The Australian Meranoplus has been revised by Stefan Schodl in 2007.
