DOUBLE TROUBLE
You know you've been around the tour for quite a while when you start playing opponents that are half your age. This past week in Poland, that happened to me for the first time (but likely not the last!). Michal Kadziola and his partner Jakub Szalankiewucz, fresh off a 9th place in Barcelona last week, are only 19! At 38, that makes me double their age! I didn't realize they were so young, until I saw Michal up close the day after our match. He approached me to ask me for my playing top as a souvenir, and it took me a bit to clue in that he was a player. He was tall and muscular like the rest of them, but his face gave it away that he was just a kid. That's when I asked him his age. He responded "I just turned 19 - you could be my father".
For a smart-ass comment like that, if I was his father, he'd be in big trouble, I can tell you that much. Instead, the only ones in trouble will be the rest of the teams on tour. With so much talent at such a young age, they have a very bright future ahead of them. Good luck, MIchal and Jakub!
