The restoration of A 1967 Airstream Globetrotter

“Stella”

We are restoring a 1967 Airstream Globetrotter that we purchased from E-bay in July 2007.  We anticipate finishing in time for the WBCCI International Rally in Bozeman, MT in July of 2008.  Jude and Andrea will be using her to caravan to the rally with us.  She will look original on the outside- but fairly modern on the inside.  She is 19 feet long and weighs about 3,000 pounds.

and it continues...

October 2, 2007- We had plans to bring Stella to NY this past weekend, but could not bear to miss out on the wonderful weather here in Springs.  We will have to take her sometime before the snow flies (within the next few weeks).  She will be spending the winter with Colin Hyde at GSM Vehicles in Plattsburg, NY.  Colin will be going over her for structural integrity and will be replacing her plumbing, belly pans, and sub flooring as well as refinishing the bathroom.  When she comes home in the spring we will finish out her interior with new floors, cabinets, gauchos, and fabrics.  Then Andy will learn the finer points of polishing an Airstream- hopefully all in time for the 4th of July!

Stella is now at GSM Vehicles in Plattsburgh, NY.  Colin Hyde is going to check her frame and tongue, then add a grey tank and replace the sub-floor.  While he has the bathroom out he will re-finish it and it will look like brand new.  She will get LED running and tail lights- as well as updated electric and plumbing.  We took the weekend to drive her up there and drop her off- CLICK HERE for photos of the mini road trip to NY.
