THE RESTORATION OF A 1961 OVERLANDER INTERNATIONAL

Here are some pictures of the mini restoration Andy and I are doing on our 1961 Overlander International.  We are getting her ready for our road trip to Bozeman, MT this summer.  Our main goal is that she is roadworthy and operational- cosmetics aren’t a priority for this trip.  Next winter we will send her to GSM Vehicles (where our ’67 is being restored) to have her modernized with grey tanks, updated electric, and so forth.  At that time she will be re-zolatoned (thats the spray finish Airstream factory uses on the interior) and her cabinets and flooring will be updated.  Her previous owner polished her- which was a huge effort- so thats one thing we won’t have to worry about.  She also came with vintage awnings and polished propane tanks.

Check back often for updates- we will be putting in the new water tank and plumbing soon.  Andy picked up the fiberglass kit for the tub this week so hopefully we can work on that this weekend.  On the 4th of April we are going to bring her to GSM for a new axle- which will improve her towing and reduce stress of the road on the trailer.
