Alex and I were constantly comparing Topkapi’s egregious excesses to the muted harmonies of the Alhambra. One key difference is that Topkapi is decked out in the kinds of home decor that the Alhambra would have had in its time -- carpeted floors, some furniture, and cushions along the walls (the Turkish word for one type of upholstered bench is sofa).
