Blue Mosque interior

The Sultanahmet Camii (or Blue Mosque) stands across a plaza from the Haghia Sophia.  It owes a clear architectural debt to the much older church, though it has the characteristic blend of sloping domes, supported by four truly massive pillars (possibly the widest I’ve ever seen in any public building).  The chandeliers hung low and wide, and without a flash create the illusion of a ring of fire.
