We had a late lunch at the famed Hamdi Et Lokantasi (Hamdi’s Meat Restaurant), which sits outside Eminönü Square and offers lovely old-style Turkish good eats with a terrace overlooking the Golden Horn and the Bosphorus. The waiters were even nice enough to shift us outside for our dessert when a table opened up. So we savored the restaurant’s celebrated view over künefe (the best use for shredded wheat we’ve ever seen, mixed with soft white cheese, baked and served with syrup and ground pistachios) and Turkish coffee.
