Ephyra

• Starting Ability Score Adjustments: +2 Constitution, +2 Charisma, -2 Strength
• Aberration: Ephyra are not subject to spells or effects that affect humanoids only, such as charm person or dominate person.
• Speed: Ephyra base land speed is 5 feet, swim 40 feet
• Naturally Psionic: Ephyra gain 1 bonus power point at 1st level. This benefit does not grant them the ability to manifest powers unless they gain that ability through another source, such as levels in a psionic class.
• Bioluminescence (Su): The ehyra glows softly from within. The shed light can vary in intensity from candlelight to torchlight. While so lit, an ephyra does not benefit from the concealment normally provided by darkness (though a 2nd-level or higher magical darkness effect functions normally), blur, displacement, invisibility, or similar effects. The light is too dim to have any special effect on undead or dark-dwelling creatures vulnerable to light. The bioluminescence manifests in colors of red, green, and blue and variations thereof. The ehyra can control the shifting of shades and speed of transition between colors. Ephyra can douse their bioluminescence by concentrating for a moment (a standard action). Restoring bioluminescence to visibility is a free action. The ephyra have mastered a silent language of light known as Deep Skinspeak, a variation of the Skinspeak language used by intelligent cephalopods.
• Psi-Like Ability: 1/day—psionic daze. An ephyra that successfully hits an opponent of any size with its arms attack may choose to use psionic daze. Manifester level is equal to ½ Hit Dice (minimum 1st). The save DC is Charisma-based.
• Freshwater Sensitivity (Ex): An ephyra fully immersed in fresh water must succeed on a DC 15 Fortitude save or become fatigued. Even on a success, it must repeat the save attempt every 10 minutes it remains immersed.
• Water Dependent (Ex): Ephyra can survive out of the water for 1 hour per 4 points of Constitution (after that, refer to the drowning rules).
• Skills: Ephyra have a +8 racial bonus on Hide checks underwater because of their near transparency while submerged. This skill assumes the ephyra is not currently bioluminescent.
• Automatic Languages: Aquan, Deep Skinspeak
• Favored Class: Psion
• Level Adjustment: +1
