JOhn Gordon’s Photography

My interest in photography grew through the influences of my talented and late father, Jack H. Gordon. Dad was a self-taught photographer who developed pictures in our home basement in a small town in Western NYS, named Jamestown. We used Nikon 35 mm film cameras which formed the basis of what he taught me.

As years passed and digital cameras made their entry into the market, I made the leap into digital and gave up using the SLR film Nikons. I now use a Nikon D-200 Digital camera.

In November , 2007, I made a visit to China and enjoyed a 10 day cruise up the Yantze River from Shanghai to the Three Rivers Dam and Gorges. The journey was one of several of the Viking River Cruises tours. We visited towns and cities along the way ending a 17 day cultural event in Beijing. During this 9 day river cruise adventure I was able to capture considerable photographic opportunities that took our tour group to Mt. Jiu Hua Buddhist Monk Temples, Silk Factories, Pottery Factories, the Terra Cotta Soldier anthropological sites, as well as The Great Wall and Forbidden City in Beijing.

The above night picture is of my home city of Annapolis, Maryland. It represents a focal points in town called “EGO ALLEY” where boaters gather to wine and dine while they enjoy the city.

Additional photos will be installed as they are taken, in this work-in-progress site! I hope you enjoy them!!

welcome to the world as seen through my eyes

Ego Alley in downtown Annapolis where boaters come to enjoy themselves at local bars and restaurants. Enjoy the delights of many of the China in the site. China is a wonderful country to visit as you will experience her in transition!
