Hi, LGMS students. My name is Ms. Taylor and I am your librarian. I was born and raised in Northern Virginia. To be a librarian I had to go to college...twice. I did my undergraduate work at Mary Washington College, now the University of Mary Washington. I graduated in 2004 with a bachelors degree in history and a VA teacher’s certification in history. In 2007 I completed my graduate degree at Longwood University. I received a masters degree in education with a specialization in school library media and a VA teacher’s certification in library media.

I love going to school; perhaps that’s why I became a librarian. I also love reading; it gives me the chance to escape to a different world or to live vicariously through the characters in the books that I read. The hardest part of my job in the library is reshelving the books because every time I find a dozen books that I want to read. You can find reviews of the books that I have read on my Book Review page. I look forward to finding fun, exciting books for you to enjoy.

My other passion in life is traveling. It’s magical stepping off of a plane and not hearing anyone speak English. So far I have been to England, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Panama. When you take my 5th grade library class you get to plan a trip to any place in the world. I will teach you how to book a flight, find a hotel, find transportation, and convert currency. You will also learn about the culture, history, and people of the place you choose.

I can’t wait to get to know you during your four year stay at Locust Grove Middle School!
