Hours of Operation

The library media center is open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 8:00-3:30, and Tuesday and Thursday 3:30-4:00. Students that wish to stay after on Tuesday or Thursday must give Ms. Taylor a note the morning of.

Location

The library media center is located on the first floor of Locust Grove Middle School across from the main entrance. Our address is 31208 Constitution Highway, Locust Grove, VA 22508

The Locust Grove Middle School library media center operates within a collaborative learning community to provide students with the information literacy skills essential to become lifelong independent learners. It is the mission of the Locust Grove library media center to enhance, extend, and challenge the classroom instruction provided within the academic programs of the middle school. The primary focus of the library media center's collections is that they support the learning, teaching, and research at Locust Grove Middle School. The library media specialist will ensure a student-centered program that fosters competencies in acquiring and using information and ideas. The Locust Grove Middle School library media center strives to remain an important stimulus in the intellectual life for its various constituents.

  1. Books: Books have a two week loan period and can be renewed as long as the book is not two weeks overdue.

  2. Periodicals: The library’s collection of periodicals cannot be removed from the media center.

  3. Internet Use: Students can use the internet for educational purposes only. They must come to the library with a yellow internet pass signed by their teacher and it must include the topic for which they are using the internet. Additionally, students must adhere to the OCSS Acceptable Use policy.

  4. Overdue Notices: Overdue notices are delivered to students as a courtesy when a book becomes two weeks overdue. It is the student’s responsibility to return his or her overdue book. If the student has lost his or her book the overdue notice contains the actual cost of the book at the time of purpose.

  5. Returning Materials: Library materials can be returned any time during the school day. The drop box is located to the left of the circulation desk.
