AMERICAN WOODCOCK ORGANIZATION

January, 2007 the American Woodcock Organization was born for the purpose of  uniting land owners, scientist, individual and corporate sponsors, county, state, federal and international government to protect and insure that the American Woodcock would flourish for generations to come.

As a non-profit organization there will be access without charge, so as to not limit any who may wish to discover the plight of this diminutive migratory upland game bird. The purpose of this organization is to improve the habitat of the American Woodcock in order to restore and maintain the American Woodcock to its historic population.

The American Woodcock Organizations plan to accomplish this monumental task will involve:

1.) The American Woodcock Society to retain the education of the scientific research community, and the public influence of a myriad of volunteers to instruct and lead all who are committed to the purpose of the preservation of the American Woodcock.

2.) The American Woodcock Foundation to gain the leadership of community, county, state, national and international government.

3.) The American Woodcock Trust to acquire the financial resources of concerned individual and corporate philanthropic benefactors.

Finally it is important to note that there are 18 nesting states and two Canadian Provinces and 13 wintering states. States are divided between nesting and wintering. The states divide in descending order at Ohio and Virginia.
