Since John and I haven’t been too good at recording Phoebe’s milestones in other formats, I thought I’d give the blog a try.

I'm moving the Phoebe Blog to a new home: http://phoebelenore.wordpress.com . I'm hoping that the more flexible formatting and other features will encourage me to start posting regularly again. Phoebe is changing and learning so fast, I can hardly keep up!

Phoebe was home sick from daycare yesterday and today. What started as a fever in the morning developed into some intestinal distress by afternoon. Phoebe learned the phrase "tummy upset."

Tonight, John asked if her tummy was still upset. She reflected for a moment, looking down at her tummy. And answered "tummy feel better now." It's really exciting that she is able to express herself so clearly!

Phoebe is very willing to answer questions these days, and has a good memory for things that she's seen and done.

She'll also now spontaneously talk about things that happened. Unfortunately, these are often not the happiest things. For instance, there was an incident at her play group where a little boy walked up to her and pushed her, knocking her over. When I was talking about other things that happened during the day, Phoebe interjected, "Joseph pushed." Happily, she'll also talk about happier things, too. She still likes to talk about her birthday: "eat cake" or "candles hot" or "open presents."

talk about radi-heater (radiator-heater)
froggy books "crash!"
eat flies (shaking head)

Phoebe continues to impress us with her language development, as well as her other skills.

She's quite good at walking up and down stairs holding the railing, though she often will still crawl or ask to be carried.

She's getting better at the you/me distinction. She will now say "carry me" instead of "carry you," for example. (Before, I would ask her "do you want me to carry you?" To which she'd answer, nodding, "carry you.")

I sleep with the baby monitor next to my bed, in case Phoebe wakes up in the night. This morning, some time around sun rise, I was surprised to hear the words "I want a cookie" ringing out clearly. We've been talking a lot about how to ask for things, and encouraging the use of complete sentences like they do at "play group." She seems to be taking this seriously.

Happily, she went back to sleep. (Or maybe she was talking in her sleep.) And maybe she even dreamt she got her cookie.
