High School Students Spend First Few Days in Training Sessions
The day finally arrived for the High School students—January 22: he day they could finally stop asking, “When, when, when do we get the computers?”
The Apple 1:1 Grant has provided every Klawock High School student with a state-of-the-art Apple Macintosh wireless notebook computer for use in the classroom. Eventually students should be able to keep these computers overnight so they can complete extended homework assignments and projects.
Features on the computer will allow students to compose their own music, record their own movies, as well as complete multi-media projects and activities. In addition to High School students, elementary students have had the opportunity to become acquainted with the powerful MacBooks through a program offered by teacher Kay Butler. Each afternoon, Mrs. Butler works with 4 to 12 students creating multi-media projects. Presentations developed by the First Grade Class were shown to the Klawock Board of Education at its January Board Meeting. Parents will be afforded the opportunity to learn on the laptops in evening sessions slated for later this spring.
A big thank you goes to Technology Director Bob Maurer, Principal Doc Spink, Superintendent Rich Carlson and Business Manager Yodean Armour who have worked tirelessly over the last eight months to bring this new technological capability to Klawock.
