About Dr. Alex Wise-Rankovic
Dr. Wise-Rankovic has training in clinical psychology and specialized training in clinical neuropsychology. She has experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and the late aged population. While working in hospital settings, she has provided therapy and evaluation services to severely mentally ill patients, persons with head trauma, cognitive dysfunction from stroke to Alzheimer’s disease, and persons in their final stages of life. In outpatient settings, Dr. Wise-Rankovic has served clients seeking psychotherapy for a variety of personal concerns from a recent personal crisis (e.g., financial distress, separation/divorce, and stressful relationships) to concerns that are longer-lived due to an existing psychological disorder such as depression or anxiety.

She has conducted psychological, psychoeducational, vocational, and neuropsychological evaluations for reasons including ADHD, epilepsy, cognitive impairment (including Alzheimer’s evaluation), mental illness competency evaluation, and identifying and diagnosing a psychological and/or personality disorder. She has worked with families, couples, and individuals. While working with children she has used play therapy, behavioral modification, parent-coaching, and role-playing. She has also worked with a wide range of specialized and diverse populations including ethnic minorities, military veterans, gay/lesbian individuals and couples, and the homeless.

From Dr. Alex Wise-Rankovic
Choosing to begin psychotherapy is not an easy decision and it can be difficult to make that first step.  If you are unsure if therapy is right for you right now,  consider coming in for a one-time consultation visit.  As with any service you seek, I like to encourage individuals to find out more before making a commitment.  If you make an appointment and are not pleased with the first session, I am open to hearing and discussing your concerns. However, it is also perfectly alright for to ask to be referred elsewhere or to simply choose to discontinue.  It’s all about the right fit and helping you find the right service provider for you.

In my therapy practice I use cognitive-behavioral therapy as well as other therapies to help individuals and families find their way to their own personal goals. Sometimes therapy takes a few sessions and sometimes longer. In either case, I will work with you to find out what you are wanting out of therapy and will seek to assist you in uncovering obstacles that keep you from being the person you wish to be.

In my evaluation practice, I use a variety of assessment techniques to answer the evaluation question that either you or a referring physician are seeking to answer.  Please give New Life Institute a call about the sliding fee scale available for low-income families.

If you would like to make an appointment, please call 512-469-9447. I look forward to speaking with you.
