Oblique Reference began as an idea by Vicki/Poldera or petalsofash on LJ and Calex, who both loved slash and fantasy, not necessarily in that order. However, while both were passionate about both of these, as well as writing, they had a... shall we say... problem when it came to finishing big projects. Lo, the concept of an original fantasy slash round robin was birthed.

Those of you who follow the LiveJournal community, however, know that a slash round robin it is not. See, while the idea in itself was what they considered ingenious and all that, they were also aware that it wasn’t the most logical. Far too many difficulties lay ahead and the universe they discussed grew far too big and individual. Thus, Oblique Reference became one universe in which multiple authors could enjoy and partake in, resulting in many stories that, yes, became large. However, both these commitment phobic authors are determined to see things through, as not only has the universe grown, but so has their obsession for it.

And recently, not only was this a universe which these two were enjoying dipping into, a third author managed to find herself in their ranks. Miyun or pandarosi on LJ, an ex-schoolmate of Calex’s and someone who has as much problems as they in writing big projects was               , er, convinced into joining their little party and while she has not yet started writing for the universe, she has started to fanart. So Oblique Reference, while a young community, is definitely growing. First of all, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who have followed our progress so far, and we hope you will continue to enjoy it in the future. Remember, if you would like to join our efforts, to email us with a sample of your writing and also maybe an indication of what you would like to write about, as Vicki, Calex and Miyun have their own ideas of stories and so on and would prefer to avoid stepped toes.
