Stephanie Stamos-Hoyle received her B.A. in Fine Art at UCLA. In addition to her interest in the arts, she also earned a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology at Pepperdine University, focusing on marriage, family and child counseling. A native of Los Angeles and a current resident of Orange County, California, her works have been featured in gallery shows in Los Angeles and Southern California. Her paintings are a part of many private collections.
Stephanie's work is well known and appreciated by art lovers throughout the LA area. Her work can be found in the homes of many prominent people and celebrities living in the area. After getting married and residing in Orange County she became pregnant with her child Claire. Motherhood left little time to oil paint; however, a creative person needs to create and she soon picked up a camera. It seems photography was less toxic than oil paint for a little one to be around. At first she was just photographing Claire and then things grew and she started taking photos of the neighborhood children and friends. Many of the images are being created into greeting cards which will be available soon.
•Photography is something I’ve enjoyed since I was 16 years old and I got my first Pentax K1000. Photography was my favorite class. Yes, there use to be art classes in high school and I took everyone of them. I never learned to type..skipped that class for art as well as many others. At UCLA I majored in Fine Art and I still hear my father yelling at me, “What are you going to do with Fine Art?” He wanted me to be an accountant like him. However, my mother is an artist and she taught me to see the world in colors others never see. I believe artists have a responsibility to bring to life the colors, the composition, the light of our everyday life that others are to busy to notice.
• My paintings can be seen on stephaniestamos.com. I will begin painting again soon as my daughter begins school in the fall. Of course I will be painting children. Having a baby changes everything about your perspective on life. I will still be clicking away however, I love the new digital photography it’s amazing what you can do nowadays!
